One of the original X-Men actors is set to return in the next big Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Avengers: Doomsday, and fans are already excited to see him back on the big screen.
Even though the actor only actually appeared in one X-Men film, their performance has clearly left an impact, because their return to the Marvel film universe seems to be exciting the fan base more than any other casting announcement for Disney’s Avengers: Doomsday so far.
Alan Cumming, perhaps best known for his roles in films such as the Spy Kids trilogy, GoldenEye and Eyes Wide Shut, only actually appeared in one X-Men film: 2003’s X2: X-Men United.

His role as Kurt “Nightcrawler” Wagner really did just feel perfect though, and it was a tough act to follow in the later X-Men films. That scene where he absolutely decimates the White House was the coolest goddamn thing 10 year old me had ever seen.
In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Cumming spoke about his preparation to step back into the role of Nightcrawler in the upcoming MCU blockbuster.
“I’ve been doing stunts the past couple of days, I’m pretty fit”, Cumming told The Telegraph (per Collider).
“The stunt boys I’m working with, who could easily be my children, are all gobsmacked I can even walk. They’re like, ‘Are you OK? You’re really limber.’ When I told them I was 60, they were like, ‘What?!’”

Over in a post on the r/marvelstudios subreddit detailing the interview, fans are beyond thrilled to see Cumming back.
“Man, it's gunna to be fun seeing nightcrawler in live action again he was so cool in X2”, commented user Coolium-d00d.
“His powers lend them self to live action, cinematic set pieces.”
“Alan's portrayal of Nightcrawler is actually amazing…” replied user BoogieHauser.

Considering his age, I highly doubt we’ll see much of Cumming beyond this one MCU appearance (although, maybe he’ll pop up in Avengers: Secret Wars), but it’s nice he’s getting a proper send-off.
Now here’s hoping McAvoy and Fassbender get to take another crack at things too…
