We may not have even welcomed Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe just yet, but it seems as though Marvel already has its major villain for Phase 7 lined up and fans agree that this would be the perfect choice.

July will welcome Phase 6 of the MCU with The Fantastic Four: First Steps hitting cinemas on the 25.

Check out the trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps below!

Kicking off with our brand-new fantastic family and concluding with 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars, it is hard to believe that Phase 7 will already be in the works and welcome the highly-anticipated X-Men reboot.

Although the X-Men reboot is still in its early stages, with no cast members yet confirmed, it seems as though Marvel already has someone in mind to take on the role of the main villain and it is someone that comic book fans will know well.

According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, the upcoming X-Men movie will feature Mr. Sinister as the main antagonist which would make sense based on previous comments from Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier.

For those unfamiliar with Mr. Sinister, otherwise known as Dr. Nathaniel Essex, he was once a world-renowned scientist who became obsessed with the idea of engineering humanity into the perfect race of superheroes.

However, after encountering the mutant villain Apocalypse, Essex soon began experimenting on himself in an attempt to reward himself with superpowers.

He was ultimately successful and achieved immortality, telepathy, telekinesis, superhuman strength, and even the ability to shapeshift, making him quite a formidable opponent indeed.

Although Mr. Sinister has yet to star in a live-action X-Men movie, he was the main antagonist in the X-Men: Animated Series and X-Men 97.

If the report is true, the supervillain will be making his live-action debut and wrecking a whole lot of havoc on some of our favourite superheroes from 2027 onwards.
