Far Cry 6 certainly wasn’t the success story Ubisoft were hoping for. The game failed to earn a single Game of the Year nomination - which makes the release of the recent Game of the Year Edition all the more awkward.

The problem is, Far Cry 6 is very average. As we noted in our review, the game “checks all of the Far Cry boxes,” yet fails to “stray too far from the path.” It’s clear that the series needs an overhaul but that’s not to say that Far Cry 6 is without its strengths. Giancarlo Esposito’s performance as Anton Castillo deserves some praise - and now the actor is returning to the role in Far Cry: Rise of the Revolution.

Take a look at Far Cry 6 in action below.

Far Cry: Rise of the Revolution is an audio prequel drama. Set to release in February 2023, Rise of the Revolution will be available to listen to on Audible. Unfortunately, there’s little else to go on at the moment besides the fact that we know Giancarlo is returning. It doesn’t feel like a stretch to assume that the drama could chart Castillo’s rise to the rank of leader of Yara.

Announcing the news on Twitter, the official Far Cry account wrote, “‘It’s time to take whatever is at hand and fight!’ We’re pleased to announce Far Cry: Rise Of The Revolution, the official prequel to Far Cry 6. This Audio original series, starring Giancarlo Esposito, will be available February 2023 on Audible.” The tweet was accompanied by a brief teaser. Have a listen below.

Of course, many fans were disappointed to hear that Rise of the Revolution wasn’t a DLC but there also seems to be plenty of hype surrounding the project. GummiRay tweeted, “Oh my god, if we get Clara Talía building the revolution time I’m gonna lose my mind. Yes, yes. This is the lore I’ve been waiting for,” while lionbeard40 added, “Sign me up for this.”
