It’s been a few years since we last saw Far Cry step onto the gaming stage, and in that time, developer and publisher Ubisoft has been through the wringer.
Now the company has seen a surge of success off the back of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, they could be gearing up for the next instalment in the Far Cry franchise, if this tease is anything to go by.
A new Far Cry game? Or a Far Cry 2 remaster?

Spotted by eagle-eyed fans on Reddit, it seems that the Far Cry Facebook page got a little rebrand, with a new version of the Far Cry logo.
The user who posted the image, DanteMustDie321, wonders if it’s because an announcement is coming, or whether it’s a small April Fool's Day joke, as it was noticed yesterday on the least fun day of the year.
“Possibly? If it's actually coming out this year then it should be reaching the marketing phase soon now that Shadows is out,” comments shadowlarvitar.
Ok_camera8237 thinks something is coming, saying, “Since they haven’t made a formal announcement on anything, I’d say this is probably hinting at a future game. Possibly a reboot.”
Ubisoft has been tight-lipped on the future of the series of late, but rumours have been swirling for some time that a new game is in the final stages of development.
This could be the perfect time to start tongues wagging and get the hype train moving - though any big reveal could still be some months away.
“I was reading that the game got canceled, so if that's not the case and there is a new game, I'll be ecstatic,” exclaims another Redditor.
Among the many comments in that Reddit thread, several people are hoping for a Far Cry 2 remaster, which would be fitting.
So many other companies are chasing the remaster options for their games, and the second Far Cry was a critical and commercial success. Hopefully, we get more information soon.
