The Far Cry franchise often feels like the unloved sibling when compared to Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise, but it has a legion of faithful fans.

It’s been a while since Far Cry last appeared on our consoles and PCs, and fans are eagerly looking to the future, when a seventh game will pop up.

It feels like ages since Far Cry 6 got its last update

Over on Reddit, players are actually feeling pretty good about the series being out of the spotlight for so long, with an optimism inspired by the time Ubisoft has had to cook the next title.

Fans are looking at this longer gap as a chance to guess and hope at what is next for the series, putting forward things they’d love to see.

“Bring back and alive and interactive world,” says Odd_Championship_21.

“Co-op should be integrated into the main plot by making the Co-op character (or characters?) actual people rather than clones of player one,” mentions Lord_Antheron.

Many of the comments within the thread are fans in a constructive mood, showing love for their favourite franchise, and giving ideas of how to improve the next game.

Something that could very much happen in this longer gap between titles.

“Bring back guns jamming and other environmental issues,” says one fan who wants more immersion in Far Cry 7.

Another player, root_b33r, sums up the conversation, saying, “The overwhelming majority of this comment thread all wants gritty realism, the sub seems united.”

“I'd love to see a simple survival mechanic; eat, drink and sleep to maintain health and stamina,” comments yet another player, keeping up the passion for more immersive mechanics.

Hopefully, the summer busy schedule of gaming will see Ubisoft take to a stage to unveil the next iteration of Far Cry, and give us something to look forward to.

There’s a lot of potential for the series, and the long gap since Far Cry 6 suggests Ubisoft is cooking up something great.
