Far Cry 6 has a hefty free download you probably missed

It’s always nice to claim a video game freebie for something that may have been on our radar for a while, but sometimes, those games can easily be missed, such as the topic of today’s discussion.
Ubisoft is one of the biggest video game companies in the industry with franchises such as Assassin’s Creed, Prince of Persia and Watch Dogs. There is another beloved series, namely Tom Clancy’s Splinter which was supposed to be getting a remake, yet we’ve heard nothing since its announcement in 2021 but news is reportedly dropping soon.

Another popular Ubisoft series is Far Cry which made its first appearance in 2004. Since that time, we’ve seen tons of sequels and spin-offs with each new entry continually being one of the publisher's biggest releases.
The most recent release in the series is Far Cry 6 which launched in 2021 and starred Giancarlo Esposito (The Boys, Breaking Bad, The Mandalorian) as the big bad villain. In case you missed it, Giancarlo Esposito will also be starring in the next MCU movie, Captain America: Brave New World.
In our review of Far Cry 6, we scored it a 6/10 with our writer saying: “I really wanted Far Cry 6 to be more than the previous games. A shake-up of the formula that accounted for the violence of its setting,” adding “But, disappointingly, it not only does little with its premise but is a poor version of things Far Cry has done well in the past.”
However, many fans believe that Far Cry 6 got more hate than it deserved, after all, if we all had the same opinions, the world would be a very boring place. So if you want to check out Far Cry 6 for yourself, now is the perfect time.
The free Far Cry 6 trial will include the Isla Santuario region and the first seven missions in the game, so it appears to be quite a hefty download. The last mission in the trial is ‘Libertad Rises’ at which point, the trial will end when the mission concludes.
If you decide to purchase the full game after the trial ends, you will be able to carry over your saved data as well as any trophies and achievements earned. PC players will need to upload their save to the Uplay cloud and redownload it into the full game to carry on where they left off.
What’s more, you will not need an active subscription to PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass to access the trial. Far Cry 6 and its free trial is available on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
