Fallout’s Latest Episode Features a Subtle Cameo From a Game Icon

Super Mutant mischief

Fallout Season 2 has picked up right where the last one left off on Prime Video, as Lucy and the Ghoul converge on the iconic lights of New Vegas to track down her nefarious father and his pre-war wife and daughter.

If you have been keeping up with the show, you’ll know there have been plenty of interesting plotlines outside of the main central narrative, from the work of Maximus within the Brotherhood of Steel to Hank’s experiments at the former Vault-Tec headquarters.

All of the storytelling that’s been going on so far eventually led to Hank making contact with Lucy while she and the Ghoul were sheltered in a room in New Vegas.

After they both fall out (see what I did there) about what exactly to do, as well as his description of her being merely a bargaining chip to him, Lucy uses a Power Fist to punch the Ghoul out of the window, impaling him on a metal pole in the process.

It’s what happens after that, though, that really should draw the interest of old-school Fallout fans, as one of the most important figures in the history of the franchise returns in what is currently a cameo role.

Ron Perlman is Back in Fallout and We Couldn't Be Happier

As first reported by Eurogamer, if you somehow missed it, legendary actor Ron Perlman returned as a super mutant in the Fallout Prime adaptation, removing the Ghoul from his predicament on the pole and dragging him to a cave.

After helping the Ghoul to heal with a thick chunk of uranium thrust into the core of his torso, the mutant has a bunch of interesting things to say about the events to come in the show.

“They call us abominations, but they created our kind,” Perlman’s mutant tells the Ghoul, referring to the ever-nefarious Enclave. “Ghouls, mutants, we’re kin, and we should unite against our common enemy,” he goes on to say.

After the Ghoul refuses to join whatever cause Perlman is alluding to, he is bonked on the head and knocked unconscious before being dragged far away to avoid him revealing the location of the cave.

It’s a very cool appearance, and one that would be relegated to cameo status if it wasn’t for the fact that I’m certain he is going to show up again as the narrative progresses.

There are several existing candidates for who Perlman could be, but we’ll need some more info before we can make a really educated guess.
