Fallout meets Red Dead Redemption in new RPG coming this year

Futuristic western incoming

There’s a new RPG coming later this year, and it’s got vibes written all over it, many different vibes.

Popping up on Steam, this RPG is seemingly pulling from so many inspirations, and if you have a look at the screenshots, you’ll likely see one of your favourites represented.

ExeKiller is mashing up lots of inspirations

While watching the trailer on the Steam page for ExeKiller, my brain went through many distracted moments.

As we catch a look at the inside of a car driven by the player, my brain snagged on Cyberpunk 2077.

The overall wasteland vibe of a possible post-apocalyptic future is giving massive Fallout vibes.

Then there’s no denying, given that ExeKiller is described as “a retro futuristic western game”, that fans of Red Dead Redemption will likely take something away from this title.

According to the developer, ExeKiller is “a first-person action-adventure game with a multi-choice story.”

The game is a proper dystopian tale set in an alternate reality world, which should be noted seeing as the real world feels increasingly dystopian, and sees you exist within a “decimated humanity”.

The planet is now a scorched wasteland, and you must learn to survive in the semi-open world.

There will be no XP or levelling up here, all the improvements to the hero come via mods and augments, which should also allow your playthroughs to feel different each time.

As with so many other action games, it’s your choice whether to go in all guns blazing, or take a more stealthy approach, giving you many ways to play.

It sounds like this is shaping up to be a banger, and the visual design is certainly bold and approachable.

Sadly, there is no date listed for release and the Steam listing has a very vague “2025”, so I can’t imagine we’ll get our hands on this in the next few months. Wishlist it now!
