Fallout: New Vegas returns in incredible special event

Sometimes you’ve just got to sit back and admire how charming the video game community can be, especially regarding this incredible Fallout: New Vegas event.

Over the weekend, passionate fans of Bethesda’s Fallout: New Vegas got together for a special convention that celebrates all the goodness this beloved post-apocalyptic RPG developed by Obsidian Entertainment brings.

Check out the Fallout: New Vegas trailer below!

The event in question is the third-annual two-day ‘Fallout: New Vegas Festival’ which took place in Goodsprings, Nevada between 16 and 17 November 2024. This is not an official Bethesda event but is run by fans where the community gets together to celebrate the game they love and indulge in some endlessly charming cosplay.

Goodsprings is a key location in Fallout: New Vegas where clean water can be found following the Great War and while the place also known as the “quiet town” is not shy of trouble it’s a place where life can survive, a rarity in its harsh post-apocalyptic wasteland.

As shown across social media, fans turned out in the masses at the event showcasing epic cosplays and even recreated scenes from the game such as the ‘Battle of Goodsprings’ between the New California Republic and Caesar's Legion.

Two of my favourite cosplays have to be the eerie Think Tank, a robot made up of three TVs that starred in the ‘Old World Blues’ DLC and the simple but effective Todd Howard mask with scrap cardboard that reads “buy Skyrim” referring to the seemingly endless releases of the fantasy RPG.

I think what makes this event incredible (other than its passionate fans) is the fact that it shows how popular Fallout: New Vegas is, despite releasing over 14 years ago in 2010 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. I can’t wait to see how the festival grows next year and beyond.

Fallout: New Vegas is backwards compatible with modern Xbox consoles and is included in a Game Pass subscription at no extra cost.
