Fresh rumours are making the rounds that a new release in the Fallout series is still happening and it could arrive before Fallout 5.

Alongside The Elder Scrolls series, Fallout is one of Bethesda’s most popular properties. This is why fans are desperate for news on Fallout 5, which at the very least, has been confirmed by Bethesda chief, Todd Howard.

Released in 2008 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Fallout 3 is without a doubt my favourite entry in the post-apocalyptic RPG series. Other than being a fantastic game in its own right, it had a certain charm that hooked me more than any other game in this series.

With recent news circulating the internet that an announcement for an official remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion could be mere days away, fans will also be hoping that the Fallout 3 remake is next in line.

In September 2023, as part of Microsoft’s battle with the FTC over its now-completed takeover of Activision, it was subtly confirmed that Bethesda has plans to release a Fallout 3 remaster or remake.

However, details on the Fallout 3 remaster were kept deliberately vague. After all, it’s not been officially announced and the only reason we know of it was because of documents read during the FTC court battle.

Now that the proverbial cat is out of the bag, fans are wondering when the Fallout 3 remaster will grace us with its presence.

When Twitter user Casual_Meh asked video game industry insider, NateTheHate2 whether there was an update on the Fallout 3 remaster, they got the reply “Planned but won't be for a while.”

Despite not knowing when the Fallout 3 remaster will arrive or what generation it will be, fans are still hyped nonetheless.

“I'd have to see the Oblivion remake first but judging on images alone, a Fallout 3 remake like that would be so sick,” said Redditor iiniVijuY.

“It's probably going to come out after The Elder Scrolls VI but before Fallout 5,” claimed MAJ_Starman.

“I would rather have Fallout 3 than Oblivion,” said GoldOppaiExperience.

“I'm excited for Oblivion, but I would have preferred the Fallout 3 remake first,” replied MidRoad.

It could be a while before Bethesda officially announces the remaster or remake of Fallout 3. That being said, there’s a good chance that it will be released before Fallout 5 (hopefully).

We’ll of course keep you posted if we hear further updates on Fallout 3 as well as The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake.
