As a huge fan of the genre, there's nothing more exciting than hearing that a new, ambitious RPG is on the way, and one in particular has caught our collective eye as a potential hit, even at this early stage.
Revealed at the Tokyo Games Show all the way back in 2022, Ashfall is an upcoming looter shooter created by the development team over at NetEase, who continue to produce projects at an insane pace, and it's an enormously ambitious project that should capture the interest of the masses.
Without further ado, here's everything we know about the game so far, including all of the details surrounding the story and gameplay features, as well as the very exciting names behind the soundtrack.
Ashfall is Set in a World Devastated by AI

In a prescient moment for the development team, Ashfall is set in a world devastated by nuclear fallout, after AI rose up and decided to devastate the home planet of its creator.

As the player, you'll be exploring the remnants of that world in search of the Core of Creation, which may be enough to spring fresh hope into a devastated population.
As you might expect from a deep RPG, the game features a ton of ways to build your character to really make your playstyle come to the fore. There are nine distinct shooting styles, which you can spec into via a pool of talent nodes, equipment and mechanics. You can also take a stealthier approach if front facing combat isn't really your thing, so it should be a game that offers some variability.
As a partial MMO, you can team up with friends and form guilds, whilst Ashfall also features PvP zones where you can take on others to prove who is really the best.
The soundtrack is arguably the most exciting element of the lot, with that being produced by the eternal genius that is Hans Zimmer and Iron-Man composer Steve Mazzaro. Some of it has already been revealed and it's safe to say that it has the potential to be an absolute all-timer.

The only bad news is that we still don't have a finalised release date, though some speculation seemingly suggests that we will get our hands on it in some form in 2026.
With the amount of delays and development hiccups floating around at the moment, we're not going to count any chickens just yet
