Terrifying Fallout horror game Pilgrim returns after years-long absence

Pilgrim Remastered has just been dropped by the original mod creator out of nowhere - it's now compatible with all of Fallout 4's DLC.

Remember Fallout 4’s spooky Silent Hill-like mod, Pilgrim? As PCGamesN writes, the mod first released in 2017, and was pretty fantastic - it completely overhauled the game’s atmosphere with changes to the lighting and weather, and genuinely transformed the title into something totally new.

One day though, the mod disappeared, for reasons that are still totally unknown. Did the creators get overwhelmed with its popularity? Did working on it become too much? Was the mod itself haunted? Perhaps not, but for whatever reason, enough was enough.

Before we get into it, take a look at the gameplay trailer for the huge fan-made Fallout 4 mod, Fallout London, below.

Until now, that is, because Pilgrim is back and better than ever. Over on Nexus Mods, one of the original creators of the mod, who goes by TreyM, has uploaded Pilgrim Remastered. The eerie vibes you know and love have been upgraded, and it’s now also compatible with all of Fallout 4’s DLC.

“The original horror atmosphere overhaul for Fallout 4 has returned, remastered with full support for all of the game's DLC,” the mod’s description on Nexus Mods reads. “Each of the original Pilgrim weathers have been retouched and the colour grading has been remade from scratch. This is the definitive edition of Pilgrim and a more complete version of the original vision that L00ping and I had. I really hope you enjoy this expanded and remastered edition of Pilgrim: Dread the Commonwealth.”

TreyM has also released a video showcasing the upgraded mod, which you can check out below. It’s made a lot of players very nostalgic, with many planning to play through the whole game again using it.

“This is my favourite mod! It's how I played through a considerable part of Fallout 4, and now I can't play it any other way. I never did beat Fallout 4, but I'm considering reinstalling it now so I can finish it with this mod,” YouTube user jonRock1992 wrote. “YES! Finally time for me to reinstall. This IS Fallout 4 to me! Thank you!” commented Lunar Stain.
