Fallout 5 release date update is just what we needed to hear

If I had a pound for every time I’ve told you that Fallout 5 isn’t set to land anytime soon, I’d probably have a nice sum.

It’s a statement worth repeating though because it remains the truth.

Bethesda isn’t very forthcoming with information, but it’s believed that it’s full steam ahead for the studio on The Elder Scrolls VI.

It’s about time too considering the game was announced seven years ago.

If there is any manpower to spare, it’s assumed that Bethesda is also working on a second expansion to Starfield.

Let’s hope it dazzles more than Shattered Space, although I have to say, I quite enjoyed what that had to offer.

With all of this in mind, you can see why development on Fallout 5 isn’t exactly chugging along.

It’s why so many are accepting that the game may be a next-gen title.

There is one small glimmer of light within this very dark tunnel we find ourselves in.

ICYMI: We previously played snog, marry, irradiate with the cast of Prime Video’s Fallout.

While Fallout 5 isn’t exactly advancing speedily, as far as we know, it’s reportedly not being held back by Fallout 76’s ongoing post-launch support.

In an interview with TheGamer, Fallout 76 creative director Jon Rush made that assurance.

"Absolutely not," Rush said. "I can understand that perspective, watching from the outside in, but no, absolutely not. If anything, when Fallout 5 does come out, it'll make it even more impactful. But [Fallout 76] isn't holding anything back."

It’s nice to hear this, but it doesn’t exactly change that Fallout 5 is likely being held back by The Elder Scrolls VI and Starfield.

Of course, we’re not in a total drought.

Fallout 76 is arguably better than it’s ever been, with the game having received several major expansions in the form of ‘Skyline Valley’ and ‘Gleaming Depths’.

Let’s not forget that we’ll soon be able to play as a ghoul as well.

And then there’s the upcoming second season of Prime Video’s Fallout.

There are plenty of treats to devour … just not the one we so desperately want.
