Fallout 5 Be Damned, A Better Fallout Game Is Getting New DLC

It’s just as good, maybe

Fallout 5 be damned, because what many consider to be a better game than Fallout is getting brand new DLC.

Without question, Bethesda’s ever-popular post-apocalyptic RPG series, Fallout, is one of the most beloved properties in the video game industry, and for good reason; it’s fantastic.

The success of Fallout has spanned multiple generations and has not only crossed over into the world of tabletop board games, but later this year, we’re being treated to the second season of Amazon’s critically acclaimed live-action series, taking us to New Vegas.

However, when it comes down to it, there’s no better Fallout experience than what’s offered with its video games. Last year, the long-awaited free new-gen update for Fallout 4 arrived, making the now 10-year-old game look better than ever.

That being said, as much as we love Fallout 4, we’re all dying to play Fallout 5. The only problem is, we have no idea when it will be released. Well, at least officially. Speculation suggests that the launch of Fallout 5 might be a few years away, if we’re lucky.

So, what can we do in the meantime, I hear you ask? For starters, we have the 2025 action survival game, which has a certain Fallout charm but is set in the lush countryside of the UK. That game is called Atomfall.

In our review of Atomfall, GAMINGbible’s Sam said: “It’s one of the best games I’ve played this year for sure, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a compelling, narrative adventure game. It’s not a British Fallout knock-off, it’s something much more than that and it has serious potential to become a series.”

If you’re a fan of Atomfall and want more of its goodness, then you’re in luck, because it’s getting a brand new expansion called ‘The Red Strain’ and it’s releasing on 16 September 2025.

At this time, there’s no proper synopsis for the expansion. All we have to go on is this vague description on the game's official website.

“More details about exactly what you will find in ‘The Red Strain’ will be revealed in the lead up to the release, but for now expect a highly confidential new location and plenty more mysteries to uncover,” it reads.

Atomfall is out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
