Fallout 4 players can explore a remastered New Vegas in this free download

Get the best of both worlds

With the ongoing debate as to which is the best: Fallout 4 or Fallout: New Vegas, one free download will single-handedly end it by combining the best of both worlds.

Following on from last month’s hit Amazon show Fallout, the games that inspired the adaptation are back in the spotlight. However, with quite a few titles to choose from which span from 1997 to 2018, it can be quite overwhelming, especially when die-hard fans are always recommending the “best one”.

Check out the trailer for Fallout: New Vegas below!

However, as a way of marking the end of one debate, one modder over on Nexus Mods has created FNV to FO4 which aims to “convert models and plugins made for Fallout 3/Fallout: New Vegas to Fallout 4.”

With Fallout 3 first released back in 2008 with Fallout: New Vegas following in 2010, it is safe to say that these titles are a bit outdated by today’s graphic standards. However, by adding the New Vegas base game to Fallout 4, players can expect a much smoother experience.

This means that the world of New Vegas, which in turn is inspired by the Mojave Desert, will now look a lot more up-to-date. However, it is worth noting that NPCs, creatures, weapons and armour (will appear in the world but can’t be equipped), quests and scripts from New Vegas will not be included.

Although this is mainly a mod to change up the aesthetics of Fallout 4 by adding elements of Fallout: New Vegas, it is still interesting to see a remastered New Vegas anyway. You never know, mods like this might inspire Bethesda to team up with Obsidian Entertainment and make an official remaster.

For those who still want to experience Fallout 3 all over again, Fallout 3: Rebirth is a massive unofficial remaster you can download for free right now. This and thousands of other mods over on Nexus Mods is bound to keep us occupied throughout the upcoming Bethesda drought.
