Blood for the Blood God

It has been a long old time since Fallout 4 released and you could be forgiven for having explored everything it has to offer at this point.

Though it wasn't all things to all players, it is a game that's filled with locations, details and quests that make the Commonwealth feel alive, and Bethesda did a good job of adding to the lore laid out in the earlier games.

The developer stopped releasing official DLC for Fallout 4 a long time ago, and what we did get was very much a mixed bag, so if we're looking for entirely new experiences in the same setting, we've had to start searching elsewhere.

Fortunately, the game's modding community regularly comes in clutch, and there's a new release that should give you plenty of new content to jump into, as well as bringing back one of the most memorable perks in Fallout 3.

Take on the Blood Raiders in Cambridge

Over on Nexus Mods, The Wretched - Stranger Commonwealth is now available to download that kits out one of the many boarded up buildings in Boston with a brand new interior, that serves as a mini-dungeon as part of a larger questline.

Created as part of the Fallout Flood mod jam, the new quest takes players back to Cambridge, where a mysterious raider blood cult known as The Wretched have made their home.

In the developer's own words, "The Wretched are a cult-like raider group that have been pretty low profile, and have long been taking advantage of the Institute's infamy of abductions to make abductions of their own unnoticed. Lately they have shown their faces more and more in Cambridge to the displeasure of other local raiders."

Your first task is simply to track down the key that will allow you access to their home base, following which you should be able to gain entry and put a stop to their activities.

The mod comes with a bunch of tangible features that should make a difference to your gameplay outside of the specific quest it tasks you with.

The first is the Hematophage perk, marking its first appearance since Fallout 3, which allows you to earn back more health when you consume Blood Packs (and anything else that's blood related).

You can also grab a unique syringe melee weapon that, although it only has a low baseline damage, does cause bleeding to anyone you hit with it.

The only caveat is that you'll probably want to be around level 20 to get it done, with enemies ranging from level 12, all the way up to 28 for the boss.

It's available to download now, so what are you waiting for? Get out there and dust off some raiders.
