Fallout 3 Remastered quietly 'confirmed' by new leak

We'll hopefully be returning to Washington D.C.'s Capital Wasteland sometime in 2026

That Fallout 3 remaster that Microsoft and Bethesda accidentally (sort of) leaked a while back is real, according to recent comments from a well-regarded leaker, but I hope you weren’t excited to get your hands on it any time this year.

As far as video game leakers go, there are two that I trust wholeheartedly: Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, and Nate The Hate.

That isn’t to cast any shade on other leakers, but those two have incredible batting averages as far as leaks go.

Which is why a recent exchange between Nate the Hate and another user on Twitter really caught my attention, because this is about as close to a confirmation that you could possibly ask for without said info coming directly from an official source.

“@NateTheHate2 have you heard anything new in regards to fallout 3 remastered?” asked user @casual_meh.

“it was listed in the leaked bethesda documents back when microsoft and ftc where fighting, so is it still happening? if so any idea when it could be announced or released?”

Nate’s reply was pretty simple, but it tells us all we need to know: “It'll be a while before we see it.”

In case you’re curious what the “leaked Bethesda documents” the commenter is refering to are, Microsoft had to turn over a lot of info to the United States Court of Appeals back in 2023… info that eventually leaked.

During the FTC v. Microsoft lawsuit, info about several planned Bethesda titles leaked, including Dishonored 3, Oblivion Remastered, and Fallout 3 Remastered.

Now, the dates on that are a bit out of whack. For instance, the Oblivion remaster was scheduled to drop in 2022. We now know, due to the fact that it leaked yesterday, that it’ll finally be dropping this year.

These schedules were likely thrown out of whack by delays that Bethesda faced during COVID. And to be honest, even if there wasn’t a massive epidemic in 2020… they do seem a little bit unrealistic.

So, if they were planning to drop Fallout 3 Remastered in 2024, but Oblivion Remastered got pushed back roughly three years… then maybe we’ll finally see a new Fallout game from Bethesda in late 2026 at the earliest, or late 2027 at the latest.

Here’s hoping. There’s only so many times I can replay Fallout 4 while we wait…
