Depending on who you ask, every Fallout fan has an entry they believe is the best. However, quite a few people would say Fallout 3 and luckily, that very title is free to download right now.

Released in 2008, Fallout 3 is, as you guessed it, the third main instalment in the much-loved Fallout franchise. Taking place in Washington, DC known as the Capital Wasteland, the story follows our typical Vault Dweller as they set off to find their missing father.

With the hype surrounding Fallout still in full swing thanks to the recent success of the Amazon Prime show, many new players are flocking to the original games which means Fallout 3 currently being free is perfect timing.

However, as always, there are a few catches.

Fallout 3 is only free to download for those who are on PC as there are only PC codes available right now. Additionally, you have to have an active subscription to Amazon Prime as these codes can be found via Prime Gaming. However, once you have claimed the game, it is yours to keep regardless of if you have an active subscription or not.

With the base game being included alongside all the game’s DLCs including Operation: Anchorage, The Pitt, Broken Steel, Point Lookout, and Mothership Zeta, this is not a deal to miss out on if you never got to play Fallout 3 back in 2008.

Although the game hasn’t aged the best, especially by today’s standards, it was still considered as one of the best RPGs of all time and still sits at an impressive 8.4 user score on Metacritic.

In related news, if you want to dive into even more RPG titles, you should check out this bundle which not only includes Fallout 4 but also The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
