The Elder Scrolls series is amongst the most popular of the fantasy RPG genre and excitement for our next venture into Tamriel, is enough to excite fans worldwide.

However, Bethesda announced The Elder Scrolls VI during E3 2018. Obviously, over five years have now passed and we’ve learned absolutely nothing about the game, at least officially. All we’ve had to make do with is the initial 2018 teaser trailer. Since that time we’ve seen no gameplay, let alone knowing its release date.

That being said, when Microsoft finalised the $7.5 billion takeover of Bethesda's parent company ZeniMax Media, it’s more than likely that The Elder Scrolls VI will only be released on PC and Xbox Series X|S, and not PlayStation 5, sadly. Other than that, it’s anyone's guess when it might arrive, but one developer has made an intriguing educated prediction of how Bethesda may tease the next The Elder Scrolls VI reveal in the coming months.

When speaking on the YouTube channel MinnMax, during an interview, Bruce Nesmith who was the lead designer on Skyrim, before he left Bethesda in 2021, believes that we might not hear about The Elder Scrolls VI until six months before it launches, similar to how Bethesda announced Fallout 4 at E3 2015. For reference, Fallout 4 was released on 10 November 2015, five months after it was announced.

“The company took years of hits for not talking about The Elder Scrolls VI. Years of hits. Because Todd's opinion, one which I share, by the way, is that the video game industry has short memories,” said Nesmith. “Those companies that start touting their games years ahead of time actually screw themselves. The best time to start talking about it is six months before release.”

Obviously, we’ve already mentioned that The Elder Scrolls VI was announced over five years ago so that six-month window has well and truly passed. That being said, Nesmith explained how Bethesda should or might handle the next reveal of the highly anticipated fantasy RPG.

“Only the fact that the pitchforks and torches were out is what got Todd to say, 'Yes, we're gonna do The Elder Scrolls VI. I promise you! It's for real! It'll happen!' But I'm betting you won't hear much in the way of details until six months before, which is the way it should be,” he explained. “I think that's the best approach. He's proven that works really well for Bethesda.”

Whether The Elder Scrolls VI will receive a new reveal anytime soon, is a topic for another day. That being said, hopefully, when that new reveal finally arrives, its release date isn't far away.
