When FromSoftware’s Elden Ring was released in 2022, it instantly became an all-time great achieving critical acclaim from both reviewers and fans alike.

Elden Ring earned the ‘Must Play’ accolade on Metacritic with an impressive score of 96. As of January 2023, Elden Ring won a grand total of over 140 Game of the Year awards. However, as discussed on Reddit, Elden Ring later went on to win over 320 awards toppling the likes of The Last of Us Part II and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

In our review of Elden Ring, we said that it’s a: “constantly surprising adventure that has taken FromSoftware's tried-and-tested formula to delirious new heights. One of the best video games of the last decade, and an absolutely essential release, Elden Ring really does confirm that 2022 is off to an incredible start.”

As it stands right now, Elden Ring is the most awarded video game of all time, and by quite some margin. At least for the foreseeable future, it’s unlikely that any video game will win more awards than this FromSoftware great. Though we’re sure that Baldur’s Gate 3 from Larian Studios might have something to say about that, which is competing with Alan Wake II to win the top gong at The Game Awards 2023 next month.

It will be interesting to see if Baldur’s Gate 3 can get anywhere near winning the same amount of accolades as Elden Ring. Perhaps that’s unlikely to happen. That being said, if there’s one game that might stand a decent chance, it could very well be the charming Dungeons and Dragons-inspired RPG.

Elden Ring is out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. As for Baldur’s Gate 3, that’s available on PC and PlayStation 5 with its Xbox Series X|S release date yet to be confirmed. Hopefully, Xbox gamers will soon get to see what all the fuss is about in the Forgotten Realms.
