Elden Ring manga put on hiatus so creator can play DLC

Can we just put everything on hiatus?

For millions of Elden Ring fans, the launch of the first and last DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, has been a long time coming.

Many of us have binge-watched lore videos or taken time off work to experience a return to Fromsoft’s world. Some of you may have even been reading the Elden Ring manga as well, but this is now on hiatus while the creator plays along with us all.

GAMINGbible loved the Elden Ring DLC giving it an 'exceptional' review

Nikiichi Tobita has announced via social media that he will be taking a break from creating new issues of the manga series because he wants to play Shadow of the Erdtree. I do too, as GAMINGbible’s Sam loved it and now it’s on my list to play.

Tobita talked about the ‘hiatus’ on Twitter, with some fans asking if it was a “research trip.” When working alongside the gaming industry, it’s hard to stay on top of everything that’s going on.

When something new releases you want to be right there with the rest of the fans to enjoy new adventures, but it’s hard to find time, even for the creatives involved with telling some of these new stories.

So, it’s understandable that Tobita would want to pause their work on the popular manga and just enjoy the DLC as a fan, first and foremost.

Of course, it’s likely that the characters that appear in the DLC will, at some point, make their way to the manga, if any of them appeal to Tobita.

The manga adaptation has been celebrated for its unique look at the world of The Lands Between as it moves from the dark subject matter of Fromsoft’s title to a more light-hearted and sassy look at the cast of characters.

Unfortunately, the manga isn’t widely available outside of Japan but with its rising popularity and the new DLC combined, we may get to see an official English translation at some point.
