Elden Ring might be getting major new DLC following a Steam update. Well, that is at least what one fan is theorising.

Back in December 2022, developers FromSoftware dropped a massive DLC-sized update for one of the best games to release in recent years, Elden Ring. Dubbed the Colosseum update, this content brought forth PvP one-on-one brawls and team-based fights in Colosseums based in Limgrave, Leyndell and Caelid.

Check out what Colosseum offers Elden Ring players in the trailer below:

However, it seems that Elden Ring could be getting even more additional content in the near future. Spotted by Reddit user, SonOfHashut a Steam update appeared this week featuring a branch that mentioned “play-test-3.”

Now, of course, this could mean absolutely nothing. However, as mentioned by another user (thanks, Games Radar), the last time this branch was updated was during the lead-up to the launch of the Colosseum update. At this time, if Elden Ring were to get another meaty update, there’s no indication of what that content would include.

Some fans have theorised that Elden Ring might finally feature ray-tracing support, a much-requested feature from fans. What’s more, FromSoftware has previously stated that Elden Ring will get ray-tracing one day. Ray-tracing coming to Elden Ring was mentioned in patch notes from 22nd February, 2022, so could the update finally be near?

Furthermore, fans have even speculated that we might even be treated to a rush mode, similar to the one featured in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. However, perhaps whatever this rumoured content update might be, it could end up being a total surprise. Only time will tell.

At this time we can only speculate what this Elden Ring update on Steam might relate to. In another article from GamesRadar, reliable dataminer and modder, Lance McDonald teased that “there’s huge DLC coming.” Specifics on that DLC couldn't be obtained, but the modder said that whatever it is, it’s “really big.”

While we wait to find out if the new DLC could be headed to the Lands Between, be sure to read our review of Elden Ring, a game that recently won the prestigious GOTY at The Game Awards.
