'Dying Light 2' Is Being Review Bombed Over "Offensive" Omission

Sometimes I think the internet was a mistake

Dying Light 2 might be enjoying a huge number of players and some very positive reviews from fans and critics, but not everyone has fallen for Techland's zombie RPG.

As spotted by Reddit (thanks, TheGamer), Dying Light 2 is getting bombarded by negative user reviews which is dragging down its overall score quite drastically. What's especially interesting about this is that quite a large number of those negative reviews are coming specifically from Italian players.

Why? It seems Techland didn't include the option of an Italian voice over in Dying Light 2. This has, as it turns out, rather annoyed Italian players who would like to play and enjoy the game in their chosen language.

It's worth pointing out that Italian is far from the only omission. As far as we can see, Dying Light 2 has full VO localization for the following languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese. This, of course, leaves a lot of languages out - but Dying Light 2 is far from the first game not to offer VO localization for every language.

Despite this, Italians seem to be especially ticked off and offended by the omission.

"The absence of Italian language and inclusion of all other languages in the game is a heavy offense to Italian culture and people," writes one reviewer.

"Dying Light 2 has only Italian text and full of errors and bad translation," another wrote. "They showed no respect for Italy and Italians. No way us Italians will show respect for them."

One unfortunate player doesn't seem to realise that Techland is a Polish company, and is furious that Polish was prioritized over Italian. "I really don't understand how is it possible to insert Polish spoken dialogues but forget to include Italian dialogues?" they wrote. "Shall we run a survey and ask the people all around the world if Poland is more well known than Italy?" Big oof.
