A major update is set to land in Dying Light 2: Stay Human in a few days time. Just over two years after the game was released, developers have finally made the decision to add guns.

It’s been a rollercoaster couple of months for Dying Light 2. On one hand, it’s great to see that developers are still so generous with content drops. That being said, the recent addition of microtransactions didn’t go over all that well with players, leading to a slew of bad reviews online. While microtransactions are still present in the game, the dust does appear to have settled on that debacle. More recently, the Year of the Dragon event dropped to time with the celebration of Chinese New Year. Already though, our focus is required elsewhere as the firearms update is finally on the way.

Take a look at Dying Light 2 in action below.

In just a few days, on 22 February to be exact, Dying Light 2: Stay Human - Reloaded Edition is set to launch which includes both the base game and Bloody Ties DLC. It’s also due to include a highly requested update that introduces firearms to the melee-focused game. The update will drop for all players, so don’t worry if you don’t plan on buying the Reloaded Edition.

Developers haven’t yet released patch notes for the update so we can’t say exactly what new weapons and changes are on the way. That being said, in the update’s trailer, we can see several gun variations including a rifle and shotgun. As reported by GameRant, the update is also due to improve the visuals of the game’s vegetation, skyboxes and zombie faces. In fact, it’s been described as the biggest update yet. Cue an excited ‘ooo’.

Adding firearms to Dying Light 2 isn’t as simple as it sounds. Developers have had to narratively come up with a way to explain why guns are suddenly available in this melee-focused world. As for what they came up with? I guess we’ll find out on 22 February.
