Just in case running from hordes of zombies and fighting for your life didn’t offer enough danger, Dying Light 2 recently welcomed an epic new mode designed to test even the strongest of gamers.

Released back in 2022 as a direct sequel to Dying Light, Dying Light 2 is an action RPG set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by the walking dead.

You soon find yourself in a settlement rocked with conflict as you start off your journey across a dangerous landscape to find your little sister. Along the way you will run into hordes of zombies which will cause you to utilize both your parkour and combat abilities to overcome.

Famed for its hardcore combat and fluid movement, Dying Light 2 allows you to play in whichever way you see fit with a large arsenal of weapons and a dynamic environment.

However, to add a bit more challenge into the mix, developers Techland have recently released Update 1.16 which introduces a Nightmare Mode to the RPG.

Nightmare Mode is the new highest difficulty for Dying Light 2 and not only features harder and more cunning enemies but also makes your survival a lot more difficult to achieve with UI changes.

This includes the ability for flashlights to cut out, accessing the menu will no longer pause the game, Survivor Sense only shows weapons and quest items, and stamina will take a lot longer to regenerate to name just a few changes.

Those who complete the game in Nightmare Mode will also be rewarded with a “super unique outfit” so maybe the pain will be worth it after all.

Dying Light 2’s 1.16 update also comes with balance changes and bug fixes including a significant buff to guns and is available across PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC now.
