Dragon's Dogma 2 is about to nerf its most controversial feature

Love it or not, this feature made Dragon's Dogma 2 so tense

Dragon’s Dogma 2 isn’t meant to be without its threats, some of which are closer to home than you think. Or so it’s been since its launch, but one of those lurking threats is about to have its fangs removed.

The “maddingly chaotic” drama of Dragon’s Dogma 2 is going to water down the dreaded Dragonsplague, in a move none of us anticipated.

Dragonsplague has been highly controversial, however, fans had seemingly started to come to terms with it being one of the various dangerous elements of the game that makes it the RPG it’s praised for being.

Are you feeling up to the task in Dragon's Dogma 2?

This might sound like fantastic news, however, the Dragonsplague, while a guaranteed death sentence for your Pawns, does come with some momentary benefits.

“Boo to the Dragonsplague update. Fine as it is. We don't need to be mothered,” joked one fan upon seeing the announcement.

To clarify, Capcom isn’t completely removing this condition, just making it more “noticeable” when your Pawns are affected. Furthermore, you’ll be less likely to run into it during your playthrough.

This has surprised some players who claim it’s rare as it is.

“I have spent over 200 hours in this game and I still haven't run into this yet. At this point I want to find it because it seems like it's impossible to get?” queried another fan.

They added, “All they [Capcom] really needed to do was add a dialogue box to the tutorial about it saying that red eyes are the first sign of it.”

Capcom announced the dramatic change of direction on Twitter, where it revealed details of its upcoming patch. Apparently, while a fascinating feature, it’s one that gamers just can’t embrace.

This move has moved the discourse from being about the pros and cons of the Dragonsplague, to how some players aren’t skilled enough to deal with the title’s difficulty.

Skill issue or not (it’s not), the Dragonsplague will start to fade into the background in the next update whether we like it or not.
