Dragon Age Series Announced By Netflix, Complete With First Trailer

Dragon Age fans have a few things to digest right about now. Just last week, the next instalment in the series was officially titled Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. The name Dreadwolf is clearly referring to Solas, who’s undeniably a character that splits opinion. Sure, he has a large fanbase who must be thrilled about this title but if you’re a part of the camp that just doesn’t get the hype … yeah. I understand your pain.

Thanks to Netflix, fans of Bioware’s fantasy RPG are being treated yet again after the streamer surprised us by announcing that a Dragon Age series is coming later this year, and it’s even got a trailer.

Take a look at the brand new trailer for Netflix’s Dragon Age: Absolution which will land on the streaming platform later this year.

Netflix’s new animated series Dragon Age: Absolution is set to debut in December. The show will tell a brand new story set within Tevinter which is (not-so-coincidentally, I imagine) also where Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is set. According to Netflix, Dragon Age: Absolution will feature “an ensemble of new characters inspired by Dragon Age lore,” in addition to “elves, mages, knights, Qunari, Red Templars, demons and other special surprises.”

Another thing we’re not yet sure of is where the series falls in Dragon Age’s timeline, so it remains to be seen if the show has the potential to crossover with Dreadwolf. The series is being led by showrunner Mairghread Scott who’s known for her work on Star Wars: Resistance and the Guardians of the Galaxy animated series.

As exciting as this all sounds, fans aren’t exactly thrilled about the announcement due to the series’ art style. The unoriginal 2D anime look fails to do anything original, nor does it scream Dragon Age but hey, let’s just wait and see what the show brings.
