People often forget that Disney purchased Marvel 12 years ago, and ever since then Iron Man has been a Disney Princess.
While the second part of that sentence is up for debate, it is true that Mickey Mouse has been the big daddy over all Marvel's legions of superheroes for quite some time now. That doesn't mean that all Marvel products are beholden to Disney's platforms. Many will know that until very recently several superhero TV shows graced the Netflix library.
However, from 16 March, shows like Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage will find their new home on Disney+, Disney's own streaming service. This is a new era for Disney as some of those shows, such as Daredevil, come with a mature rating, and now they're on what has long been thought of as a family friendly brand's streaming service.

Disney have, however, put a few actions in motion to smooth over the transition. On the day the more mature shows will enter the service, it will add increased options for parents to alter the settings and filter out unwanted content. However, this doesn't seem a big enough change for some parents.
According to comicbook, the president of the Parents Television And Media Council, Tim Winter, has released a statement disparaging Disney's decision.

"For more than 98 years, the Walt Disney Company has been synonymous with the words Family Friendly, and I can think of no other corporation in American history that has been built more squarely on the backs – and on the wallets – of parents and families. The company's eponymous platform Disney Plus logically marketed itself as a family-friendly streaming service, and parents have placed their trust in Disney to deliver just that."
The statement continues: "It seems wildly 'off-brand' for Disney Plus to add TV-MA and R-rated programming to this platform, ostensibly to increase subscription revenue. So what comes next, adding live striptease performances in Fantasyland at Disney World?"
Strippers at Disney World? I mean there is no way Disney would go for it, but you always have to dream big.
In Disney's defence here, it's not like these Marvel shows are the first adults-only content on Disney+, as there are plenty of movies available with a mature rating, including films from the Aliens and Predator franchises. Presumably Winter totally missed those, and so much more content besides, and just wanted people like us to pay him atten... oh, dang.
