Hollywood and former WWE Superstar Dave Bautista want to play the villainous Lex Luthor in the rebooted DC universe.

Previously, Dave Bautista indicated that he would love to play Batman villain, Bane. However, as part of James Gunn’s younger DCEU, the popular actor has resigned to the fact that the moment has passed. However, Bautista has now seemingly shifted his intention to play Superman's nemesis, Lex Luthor.

In an interview with Insider, Bautista revealed that he’s spoken to Gunn about the new DCEU and how the Guardians of the Galaxy director is starting “from scratch” with “younger and fresher” actors.

However, when speaking with IndieWire during the premiere of his new movie, Knock at the Cabin, Bautista stated that he may give James Gunn a call about the possibility of playing Lex Luthor in the recently announced Superman: Legacy.

Bautista referred to an Instagram post from stand-up comedian and comic book fan, Chris Killian. “Someone mentioned something on Instagram I saw tonight, and they said, ‘Just hear me out, but Dave Bautista as Lex Luthor’ and I thought that was really interesting,” said the actor.

Bautista adds: “So I don't know man, I may make a call to James and see if they got anybody in mind, but that is more appealing to me at this point of my life and my career than playing Bane.”

The last time we saw a Luthor character was Alexander Luthor Jr, son of Lex in 2016s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The character was played by Jesse Eisenberg. So it would be great to see the return of an older, wiser Lex Luthor.

However, seeing as the new DCEU was only announced yesterday, as well as the movie Superman: Legacy, it’s probably safe to assume that James Gunn is a long way off from officially casting characters anytime soon.
