The setting of the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel may have been quietly confirmed following a recent livestream with a developer.
Despite its launch woes, those who gave Cyberpunk 2077 another chance might agree that it eventually became one of the best RPGs in recent years.
Sure, it should never have launched in such a woeful state, especially on last-gen consoles, but at least CD Projekt RED made a huge effort to fix all the issues and made it an even better game than perhaps even they thought it would be.

“Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, action-adventure RPG set in the megalopolis of Night City, where you play as a cyberpunk mercenary wrapped up in a do-or-die fight for survival,” reads the synopsis of the game.
“The relationships you forge and the choices you make will shape the story and the world around you. Legends are made here. What will yours be?”
The Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, codenamed “Project Orion”, was announced alongside The Witcher 4 in 2022. However, details on the game remain vague at this time, but a developer may have just teased the sequel’s setting.
“Mike Pondsmith confirms new city in Project Orion/Cyberpunk 2077 successor,” announced Redditor bside_LP, sharing two sources of information.

During a livestream from Digital Dragons, Mike Pondsmith, the creator of the 1988 tabletop RPG Cyberpunk, the game from which Cyberpunk 2077 is inspired, he talked of his involvement with the sequel when working with CDPR.
Mike Pondsmith revealed that the sequel will have a new setting, described as “Chicago gone wrong”. What’s more, Night City will still feature in the game, and if that’s true, the sequel is likely to be massive.
“As a former resident of Chicago, I shudder to think what ‘Chicago gone wrong’ would look like,” exclaimed Hilarious_Disastrous.
“I’m gonna go out on a limb and say it's not Chicago,” suggested Like17Badgers.
