Yesterday was a big day for CD Projekt Red after it took to social media to share an influx of updates for some of its current projects.

Alongside the news that The Witcher 4 has entered full-scale production, we also got quite a few updates surrounding the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel and accompanying animation show.

Check out the official trailer for Netflix's Cyberpunk: Edgerunners below!

It has been almost four years since Cyberpunk 2077 was first launched but it was earlier this year that CD Projekt Red announced that it was wrapping up its work for the hit RPG.

However, the news was bittersweet as it also meant that the studio was turning its attention to Cyberpunk 2, codenamed Orion, as well as the future of the franchise as a whole.

Now there has been a new update courtesy of chief financial officer Piotr Nielubowicz, who not only shared sales milestones for CD Projekt, but also revealed that the studio has officially partnered with Netflix for a brand-new Cyberpunk animation project.

He said: “I’m also very happy to announce that we’re working on another animation project set in the Cyberpunk universe, which will be released on Netflix.”

Back in 2022, CD Projekt teamed up with Netflix and animation company Studio Trigger to create Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, an animated series that ran for one season.

The show was a hit and has had fans begging for more ever since and, although there is no mention as to whether Studio Trigger will also be returning, it is exciting news nonetheless.

The Netflix show did wonders for Cyberpunk 2077 with a whole new influx of players purchasing the game so we can only hope that this next project will perform as well.

Other than that, Nielubowicz took the time to thank fans for the success of the much-loved RPG.

“I also have some good news straight from Night City,” he said. “Sales of Cyberpunk 2077 have topped 30 million copies, while the Phantom Liberty expansion has sold eight million units.

“These are impressive figures – they reveal the true size of the fan community and the scale of interest in the Cyberpunk universe.”
