Cyberpunk 2077 fans are hyped for an upcoming update for the ever-popular sci-fi RPG.

Cyberpunk 2077, despite its launch woes, is now one of the best sci-fi RPGs in recent years, with the developers at CD Projekt RED working tirelessly to make sure that it’s the best game it can be.

Two of the biggest turning points for Cyberpunk 2077 were with its free and long-awaited new-gen update in 2022 before the arrival of the highly anticipated expansion, Phantom Liberty, the following year.

In our review of the Phantom Liberty expansion, we said: “CD Projekt RED is walking away from Cyberpunk 2077 in the best possible way, delivering on the game’s immense potential and dropping one final, unforgettable adventure.”

Many thought that CD Projekt RED would be done with free content updates for Cyberpunk 2077, considering that it was released in 2020, and I’m pretty sure that the developer has said at least once that there’ll be no further updates.

Yet, here we are in July 2025, looking forward to Update 2.3, and we’re certainly not complaining.

The latest REDstreams showcase has already aired and revealed a ton of new car and driving features, new quests and much more. Best of all, it goes live tomorrow.

Cyberpunk 2077 fans have been discussing the next update, and after replying to a fan on Twitter, it seems that community manager Amelia “Lilayah” hasn't ruled out new cyberware customisation.

"’Not this time around’ is interesting wording,” said Reddit user JerbearCuddles. “Almost implies it will come, just not now. “But that feels like something they'd sit on until the sequel.”

“I hope that we get another update that acts as a collaboration with Edgerunners II,” said BREADotA, referring to the newly announced Netflix series.

“I've seen some rumours floating around about the contracted studio handling these last couple of patches and getting paid to make new DLC,” claimed a hopeful Akiryx. “But until I get anything more concrete, I'm chalking it up to wishful thinking.”

We’re glad that despite being hard at work on The Witcher 4, CD Projekt RED still keeps making our adventures in Night City even better.

Cyberpunk 2077 is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2.
