Cyberpunk 2077 free download adds brutal new mode

Survival of the fittest

Cyberpunk 2077 is the game that keeps on giving, but if you really do feel you've seen everything Night City has to offer, there are other ways to extend your stay.

There are plenty of games out there whose longevity has been extended by sheer fan dedication, and Cyberpunk 2077 is no exception.

If you think you've unearthed all of Night City's secrets and feel it's time for a brand-new way to play, one particularly detailed mod adds an amazing survival system to the game, giving you an all-new set of needs to manage as you explore and fight.

‘Survival System’ has been created by NexusMods user DiCrash and is a completely free download that adds a bunch of new things for you to manage: Energy, Satiation, and Hydration.

As someone who kind of despises survival games and all the attendant multitasking they entail, I would be inclined to stay very far away from this mod. But there are plenty of you who should check it out.

A full Energy bar will deplete in six in-game days, and if it drops you'll see an impact on things like maximum health, stamina, and regeneration.

The satiation bar, meanwhile, can mess with your jump height and carry capacity if you aren't careful, while hydration can stall your movement speeds.

Keep all of these things managed by eating, sleeping, and drinking, and you should be fine. It's not quite as detailed as the survival mode in a game like Skyrim or Fallout, but for a fan-made effort it's seriously impressive.

If you're looking for another way to replay Cyberpunk 2077, I recently checked the game out on Nintendo Switch 2 and came away seriously impressed with what I saw.
