Sonic the Hedgehog 4 has just revealed its full cast, including newcomers Ben Kingsley (Schindler's List, Iron Man 3) and Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation).
They join Keanu Reeves as Shadow the Hedgehog, Idris Elba as Knuckles the Echidna and Kristen Bell as Amy Rose.

While plot details are thin on the ground, we know it follows on from the two post-credits scenes in Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

The mid-credits scene gives us our first look at the beloved character Metal Sonic in a New York City forest, followed by Amy Rose defeating the robots. The final post-credits scene reveals Shadow the Hedgehog is alive, picking up his limiter ring.

In the trailer, there is a hint towards Bad Future Robotnik, the dystopian, roboticized version of the world seen in Sonic CD when Eggman wins.
The polluted landscapes and metallic architecture is a dead giveaway.
Over on Reddit, fans theorise about the plot, with the Bad Future Robotnik tease in mind.
One user said: “It would be interesting if they use this opportunity to officially make Agent Stone part of the heroes' team in some way. Like, he initially joins this (maybe) alternate Robotnik out of loyalty, but realizes later on that this Robotnik is not like the one he knew.”
People agreed this felt like it was where the film was leading to, with one user saying: “Definitely feels like they're building towards that ultimate goal”.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is officially set to hit theaters on 19 March, 2027.
The fourth installment of this blockbuster hit will be directed by Jeff Fowler, the previous director of all 3 Sonic the Hedgehog movies.
There is an untitled spin-off from Paramount currently in the works, called “Sonic Universe Event Film” dated for 22 December 2028.
