Cyberpunk 2077: Echoes Of Joy is a free 'expansion' available now

Bring a little light to your life

Cyberpunk 2077 fans can rejoice, as a new fan-made expansion is available now for PC players.

Almost five years later, Cyberpunk 2077 is still one of the best RPGs you can play right now, especially if you own the very excellent Phantom Liberty DLC.

Despite its somewhat shaky launch, the care and attention that CD Projekt Red has put into the game over time makes it one of the most immersive experiences you can play.

Still, there will always be improvements to be made, and while we wait for the next patch to drop, a new fan-made expansion is sure to turn some heads.

Echoes of Joy - Small Immersive Encounters is a smaller mod that adds several handcrafted scenes across Night City that imbue rare moments of happiness in a place that often doesn’t allow for it.

“Another one of my world-building mods that adds a series of deeply personal, handcrafted scenes across Night City — glimpses of happiness that feel out of place in a city built on greed, violence and survival,” writes the description of the mod by author CCLordShen.

“These moments are quiet. Sometimes painful. But they matter. You’ll find a homeless family gathered around a cake, celebrating their child’s eighth birthday with scraps and smiles. In Corpo Plaza, a simple memorial stands in honour of a hero. And behind Empathy, a disgraced exotic dancer no one wants to talk about anymore.”

There are four such moments included with the mod, each one found at a different location across Night City. They’re designed to be seamlessly encountered when you find them, so they shouldn’t necessarily stick out or feel artificial.

Echoes of Joy is part of the larger Immersive Encounters series created by CCLordShen, which adds new NPC interactions like these across the game. There’s also the Echoes of Loss, Ghosts of Night City, and People of Night City mods that go alongside this.

Overall, it should make your game feel a little more immersive, enhancing Cyberpunk 2077’s narrative and the atmosphere of Night City.
