'Cyberpunk 2077' Anime Actually Looks Awesome In New Trailer

Cyberpunk 2077 wasn’t quite the runaway success that CD Projekt Red were hoping for. The game is finally living up to its potential, but it did take several years of patches and fixes and not all players have been able to forget the game's bug-ridden origins.

That being said, it has now carved out a fanbase and Netflix are hoping to build upon that with the upcoming Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Back in June, we got our first glimpse at the show but now, Netflix have dropped a full-length trailer and it looks great.

Without further ado, check out the brand new trailer for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners below.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is a 10-episode anime created by CD Projekt Red and Studio Trigger. Studio Trigger is the anime studio behind Little Witch Academia and Kill La Kill. The series centres around an unnamed street kid who must fight to survive in the technology and body modification obsessed Night City. The latest trailer introduces us to some of our key players, named David, Maine, Dorio, Kiwi, Pilar, Rebecca, and Lucy. Beyond their names, they’re all still pretty much enigmas but hey, it’s more than we knew yesterday.

We can assume that our protagonist will join forces with a few of those aforementioned folk as Netflix have teased that in order to survive, our hero becomes an “edgerunner — a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.”

The trailer perfectly captures the neon-soaked aesthetic of creator Mike Pondsmith’s setting. The show also looks set to be pretty violent, which fits in with a clip previously released by Netflix. Be prepared for lots of anime gore. We’ve already seen guys getting ripped apart and we’ve barely scratched the surface. There’s no release date for the series just yet, but we know that it’ll release sometime during September.
