Over recent days, Cyberpunk 2077 has welcomed yet another resurgence in players and it may just be to do with one very exciting announcement.
First released back in 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 has gone on to become one of the best RPGs of all time but that was not always the case.
Released in a shocking state with plenty of glitches and bugs, the CD Projekt RED even found itself getting taken down from online storefronts.
However, thanks to the tireless work and dedication of its development team, Cyberpunk 2077 is now in the best shape it has ever been in and has even welcomed multiple updates and even its first and only DLC Phantom Liberty.

As well as that, back in 2022 a Cyberpunk 2077 inspired anime arrived on Netflix titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and just recently, its second season was finally announced.
Although set in the same universe and setting of Night City, both Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will be standalone stories and will feature brand-new characters.
However, it just goes to show how much fans love this dystopian world as the mere announcement of a second Netflix series has had people flocking back to the CD Projekt RED RPG.
New data from SteamDB reveals that there has been a significant increase in Cyberpunk 2077 players since season two of the anime was announced last week.

On 6 July, Cyberpunk 2077 hit a peak player count of 66,000 and this is the first time it has hit such numbers since back in February 2024.
Up until now, around 30,000-40,000 concurrent players have been diving into Night City so this is a significant jump and even more impressive when you consider that the game is almost five years old.
Not only that but with another major update on the way, Cyberpunk 2077 is still very much in the limelight and will probably continue to be until its sequel releases some time in the future.
For now, we can look forward to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2.
