What was supposed to be a triumphant launch for Pearl Abyss’s highly anticipated open-world epic, Crimson Desert, has descended into a nightmare for millions of PC gamers who have built their rig with this common PC hardware.
Fans have been waiting for Crimson Desert for years, and on launch, some found themselves disappointed when the game refused to boot.
Rather than immersing themselves in the world of Pyewl, a significant portion of the player base was staring down a blank screen as the game appears to fail to run at all.
PC Crimson Desert fans who are using Intel Arc graphics hardware will face hardware incompatibility. For those that don’t know, Intel Arc is an affordable lower-mid-end budget brand of high-performance graphics processing units (GPUs), perfect for creativity and productivity tasks.

But not for playing Crimson Desert, apparently.
On launch, Intel Arc users on Reddit reported that the game refused to boot. Shortly after, they posted the official Pearl Abyss FAQ that confirmed the community's fears:
"Does Crimson Desert support Intel Arc? No, Crimson Desert currently does not support Intel Arc graphics cards. If you purchased the game expecting Intel Arc support, please refer to the refund policy of the platform."
Players on Reddit and Steam forums pointed out that the game's minimum requirements (GTX 1060 / RX 6500 XT) are significantly less powerful than Intel’s mid-to-high-end Arc cards.
But that isn’t the end of the community's frustrations.
Over on Reddit, Crimson Desert fans used the Wayback Machine and claim that as late as March 15, just four days before launch, there was no mention of an Intel Arc restriction on the game's official pages.
Compounding the frustration was the stealth injection of Denuvo Anti-Tamper DRM on March 12, which some reports claim is impacting performance.
However, they have remained largely silent on the Intel Arc situation, beyond directing users toward refunds.
Critics argue that Pearl Abyss waited until the final week - after millions in pre-orders were already secured - to add the performance-heavy DRM and reveal the hardware restrictions.
While there's no hard proof that is the case, it hasn't stopped accusations flying.
Pearl Abyss issued a statement on the DRM controversy, claiming: “The benchmark videos and performance specs we released were all created with the exact same implementation of denuvo that is in the launch build. This includes the performance videos by Digital Foundry. It's important that reviewers and benchmarkers' experience with the game is ultimately representative of the final consumer's experience."
What can Intel Arc PC Players Do?
If you are an Intel Arc owner who purchased Crimson Desert your options are currently limited.
Pearl Abyss recommends you reach out to your platform for a refund.

While there is no official word on a patch, Intel is known for aggressive driver updates.
However, without official support from Pearl Abyss, a fix from Intel's side may be months away, if ever.
