One of the best and perhaps most underappreciated Crash Bandicoot games is getting a remake, and it’s time for fans to rejoice.

The Crash Bandicoot series began on the original PlayStation in 1996 and was created by The Last of Us and Uncharted studio Naughty Dog. Instantly, fans were charmed by its fun 3D platforming gameplay and wacky, lovable mascot.

Over the years, we’ve had many Crash Bandicoot games across multiple platforms. So many, in fact, that we’ve probably forgotten a large chunk of them.

Perhaps one of those games is 2004’s Crash Twinsanity for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. While Crash Twinsanity was not a critical success, as indicated by its score of 64 on Metacritic, it was viewed more favourably by fans who scored it an impressive 8.5.

Originally developed by TT Games, the team behind the LEGO video game franchise, Crash Twinsanity is now making a comeback courtesy of a talented indie developer.

The Crash Twinsanity remake in question is being created by one individual known on YouTube as LukeCreater. In the description of a video uploaded to YouTube, they promised to “make the best fan game possible".

As seen in the second development diary video, it looks like the visuals and gameplay mechanics are coming along great which hopefully bodes well for its full release, whenever that may come.

Sadly, unless you own the game on PlayStation 2 or the original Xbox, there is no official way to play Crash Twinsanity. With that in mind, with a bit of luck, Activision (who owns the licence) won't shut down this project.

We’ll keep you posted if or when this fan-made remake of Crash Twinsanity eventually sees the light of day.

In the meantime, you can play Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy as well as Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
