Counter-Strike gun skin sells for $400k of actual, real-life money

One Counter-Strike Global Offensive weapon skin has sold for $400k of real-life money, and it’s not even that impressive.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is one of the most popular FPS games in recent memory, yet one of its more intriguing aspects is its in-game market of weapon skins. Now one skin, in particular, has sold for $400k of real-life money, and it’s not even that impressive.

CS:GO’s weapon market has continued to shock gamers with the amount of real-world money some of the in-game skins are actually worth, leading to many dedicated players spending hours searching for a flashy rare skin to slap onto their gun or knife.

The “minimal wear StatTrak Tier 1 Case Hardened AK-47 with a Blue Gem pattern” has made history though, becoming the most expensive gun skin in the entire game. It’s reported that each Blue Gem pattern sticker is worth a whopping $60,000 each, meaning the four stickers combined make up over half of the price alone.

The rest of the price comes from it being “minimal wear.” This essentially means that it’s in the second-best condition it could be in, as a brand new variant doesn’t currently exist, meaning it’s a very rare find indeed.

Interestingly, this is only the most expensive GUN skin, and not the most expensive skin on the market. That title belongs to the elusive Blue Gem Karambit knife, which is supposedly worth a jaw-dropping $1.5 million.

Recently, the CS:GO market was shaken to its core when CS:GO 2 was officially announced by Valve last month. The game is currently in a limited beta phase and is set to drop over the summer for PC players only, with no word if an Xbox or PlayStation port will follow.

However, it was announced that all skins earned or bought in the first CS:GO will be transferable to CS:GO 2 when it launches on Steam, which has led to price hikes for several skins in the game.
