One of 2021's best video games is completely free to play right now, giving you the perfect opportunity to check out a really rather wonderful title you might have missed.
Developer Torn Banner Studios has announced that it’s holding a free weekend for its excellent multiplayer hack-and-slash game Chivalry 2. It's available across all platforms from today (December 9) through to December 12.

The Chivalry 2 free weekend will get you access to the full game, as well as the recently released Merry Chivmas event, which includes a ton of extra festive content to get stuck into.

Chivalry 2 launched back in June this year for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series consoles, Xbox One, and PC. It's received excellent critical reviews to date, though it has to be said that the response from the fans has been rather more muted.
Over on Metacritic, the PlayStation 5 version of the game has an 85 Metascore from various critics, vs a 5.8 from users. Although it has to be said that a lot of the 0/10 scores given seem to be borderline nonsensical and needlessly harsh, others argue that the gameplay is occasionally clunky and the action can get boring fast. Still, a free weekend is the perfect chance to take a look for yourself and make up your own mind, right? Right!
