Call Of Duty Zombies is coming back in a huge way

It looks like we already know what fan-favourite mode Treyarch’s next Call of Duty game is going to include, thanks to a series of job listings.

Last year, it was reported that Call of Duty would be skipping its annual release for the first time in two decades, with the Treyarch-developed game originally planned for this year pushed back into 2024. You’d think that fans might be upset about this, but not at all - in fact, over 90% of players surveyed said that they thought the break was for the best, and honestly? I’m inclined to agree.

Take a look at some gameplay footage from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II below.

Although there’s plenty to love about Modern Warfare II, from its incredible campaign to its gorgeous visuals and creative maps, the devs clearly thought that whatever was coming next in the series needed a bit more time. No one wants a rushed game, after all, so delays can never really be a bad idea. But what is coming next? It looks like we have our first big clue.

As reported by GGRecon, it appears that Treyarch is working on a new CoD Zombies mode, because there are currently five different job listings at the company for various zombie-related roles. These include “lead zombies game designer”, “senior level designer (zombies)” and “lead zombies gameplay engineer”.

Unsurprisingly, these listings don’t explicitly state that they’re related to the Call of Duty series, but really, what else would they be for? Although the devs have made plenty of different games in the past, Treyarch hasn’t developed anything outside of the CoD franchise since late 2008.

Based on the amount of staff that they’re looking for, the studio is clearly investing heavily into the mode - it’ll be interesting to see what they bring to the table.
