Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 accidentally confirmed early as first look drops online

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been accidentally confirmed by Activision early after first look drops online.

It’s a busy ol’ time for Call of Duty. There are practically daily updates on Microsoft’s proposed acquisition of Activision, some weird and wacky new operators in Warzone, plus there’s been a resurgence in the popularity of several classic CoD titles. It’s hard to keep up.

Today though, we’re here to talk about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. While the game hasn’t yet been announced officially by Activision (I guess they’ve been a little preoccupied fighting the FTC), all signs point to the fact that MWIII is happening. Rumours have been swirling for several weeks now, suggesting that we may be near a full reveal. Insiders claim that the game will be set during the Gulf War. Others have said that a certain presumed-dead antagonist may be making a comeback. Now though, it seems as if some insiders got their hands on a pre-release build of the game as a first look dropped online.

Take a look at some of our favourite Warzone wins and fails below.

It looks as if Activision have been carrying out a closed alpha playtest. Over on Twitter, user xinput_ gathered together a bunch of leaked tidbits, including the fact that guns and operators will transfer over from MWII, weapon blueprints will return, there will be scrapped content from Vanguard, one classic minimap will return, and movement speeds have been increased.

They also added that MWII’s remastered versions of Terminal and Scrapyard will once again appear and the perk system has been recategorised as gear. Several of those involved in the leaks also posted first look footage online. As you may have guessed, Activision were very quick to issue DMCA notices to take it down, but there was an interesting clue in those takedown notices.

The DMCA notices referred to the game as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. To date, despite the fact that we’ve all assumed the game to be called that, it’s the first time we’ve heard Activision use the title. It also seemingly confirms the legitimacy of the leaked clips and images. Now we count down to that full reveal.
