I really feel for Bloodborne fans, and I include myself among them. We got one of the finest action games ever created and Sony just seemed to stop caring.

Not so much that they didn’t give others a chance to relish in the legacy of such a game, but in an official capacity it feels like Bloodborne will never get a resurgence outside of modding.

There might be a moment for Bloodborne in Sony's concert to celebrate PlayStation

This brings me to a very interesting and awfully fun-looking project built by community creator, Maxime Foulquier.

Previously Maxime was working on a full remake of Bloodborne in Unreal Engine 5 but put that on hold for fear of legal action from Sony.

Instead, they’ve begun work on something new but familiar.

Bloodborne Top Down Arena is pretty much what you’d expect from the title. It’s Bloodborne but from a top-down, almost isometric perspective, bringing the action to a wider view.

Showcased on Twitter, Maxime shows the game from a unique point of view.

It’s less ‘in-your-face’ and the action feels a bit disconnected, but it’s certainly a new way to play the legendary game.

As a fan of the original game, I think this looks great and it’s such a different way to approach the game from a modding perspective.

Usually, we get new missions or weapons, often graphical upgrades come via the community, but this is a wholly new way to play.

There is no timeline on when Maxime plans to finish the project and it’s not yet available to play.

Hopefully, work on this continues with no fear of a cease and desist from Sony because it’ll be nice for fans of the game to have something new to try out.

In other Bloodborne news, you can now play pretty much all of the game fully emulated on PC with upscaling and several other modern improvements.
