Battlefield 6 Is Going Free-To-Play For First Time In Series' History

This will be chaos

Yesterday saw EA finally reveal a plethora of information about its highly anticipated Battlefield 6 and on top of a release date, fans got hints of a new and exciting mode being added to the series for the first time ever.

The Battlefield franchise has become one of the most popular in the genre since it was first released way back in 2002.

It has come a long way and later this year, its next instalment will be bursting onto the scene with more content than ever before.

Although each Battlefield entry includes a campaign mode, it is its multiplayer mode that draws fans in thanks to its large-scale PvP combat.

During EA’s recent Multiplayer Reveal event, it was revealed that players will be able to choose from four different classes within the multiplayer mode, as well as several unique specialisations.

It also looks as though players will be able to travel to locations such as Brooklyn and Egypt thanks to its various maps but there was one teaser that captured the most attention.

At the end of the presentation, EA featured a short clip which shows hordes of soldiers and vehicles racing from a fiery ring that threatened to engulf the map.

Sound familiar?

Yes, it looks as though Battlefield 6 may feature a battle royale mode, the first in the series’ history.

Since the launch of Fortnite, the battle royale genre has hit a fever pitch with Battlefield’s rival shooter series Call of Duty even introducing it with Call of Duty: Warzone.

Of course, a battle royale mode was previously featured in Battlefield 5’s “Firestorm” mode but this will be the first time that it is included on such a large scale.

Well, it seems as though we will not have long to find out as Battlefield 6 is set to launch on 10 October but multiple open access weekends will be going live leading up to the big day at absolutely no cost.
