Batman: Arkham Knight needs a proper new-gen upgrade, fans agree

Fans are in agreement that Batman: Arkham Knight should get a proper new-gen upgrade.

Revisiting old favourites very much seems to be the dominant trend right now. Whether that be through a remake, remaster, or new-gen patch, so many titles of yesteryear are once again having their moment in the spotlight.

You only need to pop over to Metacritic’s list of 2023’s highest-rated titles to see that in action. Metroid Prime Remastered has the second best score of the year, followed by The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s new-gen patch. Also featured in the top 20 are the Resident Evil 4 and Dead Space remakes. The trend isn’t set to end anytime soon. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is getting the new-gen remake treatment, as announced by Konami at the recent PlayStation Showcase. With all this in mind, fans have been debating which games they’d like to see get a new-gen upgrade and for many, Batman: Arkham Knight is the top of their list.

Speaking of the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake, take a look at the reveal trailer for the project below.

Reddit user TheLoneJedi-77 proposed the question with Red Dead Redemption 2 popping up as a popular answer, not as popular as Batman: Arkham Knight though. Aravind_madhu wrote, “The Arkham games totally deserve a 60fps patch. Arkham Knight at 1440p 60fps would look better than most current gen games,” while FraudMallu added, “Agreed! Arkham Knight with 60fps would be soooo sexy.”

The original poster later noted, “Gliding around Gotham would look so good in 60fps,” plus the-blob1997 said, “100% Rocksteady should defo do it.” I quite agree. Arkham Knight remains, to this day, a fantastic looking game. Seeing it receive a few new-gen bells and whistles would be the cherry on top.

Unfortunately, Rocksteady are busy with the seemingly doomed Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Revealed at a State of Play earlier this year, the game has been delayed following an abysmal fan response.
