Baldur's Gate 3 New Download Changes Astarion Relationship Forever

Baldur's Gate 3 is a game that is filled with detail and depth wherever you look.

One of its greatest strengths is the dynamics between the player and their band of followers, which need to be carefully balanced if you want to keep everyone on side.

Beyond that, you can also take your relationship a step further if you so choose, becoming more romantically embroiled if you manage to hit the right dialogue options and take the right courses of action during the course of your adventure.

Though the developer won't really be releasing any more major updates for the game of note, the dedicated modding community continues to astound and surprise with their own additions to really make the game your own.

Now, a new one has just dropped and it should appeal if you're into the mushy stuff, and favour Astarion as a potential paramour in your next game.

Cuddle Astarion 'Til Your Hearts Content

Over on Nexus Mods, there's a new download available called Cuddle Astarion and it generally does exactly what it says on the tin. Potential minor spoilers ahead, so beware if you're yet to work your way through the game's main story.

In the developer's own words, the mod 'adds customised cutscenes and new sleep animations that allow Astarion and his partner to cuddle at night. It supports all vanilla races and body types and includes different animations for Spawn and Ascended Astarion'.

Now, obviously it's not the kind of thing that makes any tangible difference to the gameplay, but it's a nice added layer of immersion if you're really looking to go deeper into the game's relationship system (with Astarion specifically).

There are a few caveats with the mod that you'll need to be aware of if you want to get it to work properly. In the first instance, you'll need to complete The Pale Elf quest, as well as the Act 3 romance scene for the character. The scene will then trigger any time you initiate a long rest as either Astarion or his lover.

Both characters need to be in the active party, and the scene won't happen if another camp event overrides it, but otherwise you should be able to cuddle to your heart's content.
