Baldur's Gate 3 devs provide sick note for us to take to our bosses as massive RPG launches

Time to call a sicky!

Be honest now, how many of you have skived a day off work or school to play the latest big video game release? I know that I have.

In fact, I’ll go one better. I once cancelled all my plans to buy and play WWF No Mercy on the Nintendo 64 instead. WWF No Mercy was a much more enticing proposition than going out and seeing people.

Check out the Baldur's Gate III release date trailer below!

Of course, the best way to have a day off work to play a big video game release is to book the day off. Though to be fair sometimes we can have the attention span of a goldfish and those release dates just creep up and hit us like an RKO out of nowhere. In such a case, the developers of Baldur’s Gate III, Larian Studios have you covered.

“Hi, Larian’s legal team here. Launch day is nearly upon us. Have YOUR Baldur’s Gate III adventuring plans been thwarted by the forces of obligatory labour?” reads a tweet from the game's official Twitter account. “You may be eligible for Special Dispensation. Give this note to your boss — they’ll understand.”

We’re not sure how legally binding this sick note is, especially at short notice, best case scenario, it might at least put a smile on your boss's face if they have a sense of humour, of course. Worst case, it might get you an official warning for skiving off work, but it will be worth it, right?

In related Baldur’s Gate III news, apparently, it will take around 200 hours to complete its campaign and it has 17,000 possible endings, well, kind of.

Baldur’s Gate III has a release date of 3 August 2023 for PC, and then 6 September 2023 for PlayStation 5.
