It’s fair to say that Balduer’s Gate 3 has taken the RPG genre by storm, a game which seamlessly blends the dice-rolling mechanics of the Dungeons and Dragons tabletop game to near perfection winning the hearts of fans and reviewers alike. On aggregate websites such as Metacritic, Baldur’s Gate 3 earned itself a score of 96, not only cementing its place as one of the PS5’s best RPGs of this year but also as an all-time great.

In our review of Baldur’s Gate 3, we said: “This is the sort of game that everyone can play and enjoy, and although it's a shooter through and through, it's not violently graphic and the storyline is lighthearted and easy to get along with. The world, characters, and gameplay are all gorgeous. It's maybe the most impressive game I have ever played.”

Other than being celebrated by fans across social media, another fantastic way for a popular video game to gain added recognition is by winning awards and Baldur’s Gate 3 is no exception.

Recently, one of the UK’s most prestigious video game award ceremonies took place over the weekend with The Golden Joystick Awards 2023 and Balder’s Gate 3 hoovered up a total of seven accolades.

Baldur’s Gate 3 claimed the Ultimate Game of the Year, Studio of the Year (Larian Studios), PC Game of the Year, Best Storytelling, Best Visual Design, Best Supporting Performer (Neil Newborn, Astarion), and Best Game Community.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available now on PC and PlayStation 5 with its Xbox Series X|S release date yet to be confirmed, but hopefully, that will arrive in the coming months, because the more people that get to place this charming RPG, the better.
