It turns out that one of Will Smith's most anticipated upcoming projects is still on track to be made after all... we're just not sure exactly when it's coming.
As I'm sure you know, Smith has spent the last few months facing the consequences of the incident at the Oscars in which he slapped comedian and host Chris Rock for making a joke about his wife.
The actor has already officially resigned from the Academy, meaning he'll no longer be able to vote in future Oscars. And while Smith has since apologised, there have been multiple reports that projects featuring Smith have been cancelled or put on hold.

One of those projects was rumoured to be Bad Boys 4, the sequel to Bad Boys For Life which has been in active development for a while now. However, in a recent interview with Deadline, Sony chairman Tom Rothman disputed the report and insisted Bad Boys 4 is still very much on the way.
"That was inaccurate," Rotham explained. "That movie’s been in development and still is. There weren’t any brakes to pump because the car wasn’t moving.
"That was a very unfortunate thing that happened, and I don’t think it’s really my place to comment, except to say that I’ve known Will Smith for many years, and I know him to be a good person. That was an example of a very good person having a very bad moment, in front of the world. I believe his apology and regret is genuine, and I believe in forgiveness and redemption."
Bad Boys for Life was the most profitable entry in the Bad Boys franchise by far, making $436 million worldwide. It was also the highest grossing film of 2020, although it's worth pointing out that most of the world was in some form of lockdown at that time. Still, the numbers are too impressive not to go for a sequel, right?
